Red Stone Moon Coral

Barabattoia corals are typically found in the Indo-Pacific region, including the Red Sea, the Great Barrier Reef, and the waters surrounding Indonesia and the Philippines. They are commonly found in shallow reef environments, often attached to rocks or substrate. Barabattoia corals contain zooxanthellae, symbiotic algae that perform photosynthesis. This allows them to derive a portion of their energy from sunlight. However, they also engage in filter feeding, capturing small particles and plankton from the water column to supplement their nutritional needs. Barabattoia corals are considered relatively easy to care for compared to some other coral species. They can tolerate a range of water conditions, but it is important to maintain stable parameters, including temperature, salinity, and nutrient levels. They prefer moderate water flow and moderate to high lighting levels. Barabattoia corals generally have a moderate tolerance to copper, but it is important to avoid exposing them to high concentrations of copper, as it can be toxic to corals and other invertebrates. Care should be taken when using copper-based medications or treatments in the aquarium. When adding Barabattoia corals to your aquarium, it is important to ensure they have adequate space to expand and grow. They can be positioned on rocks or substrate, but it is essential to provide them with enough room to extend their polyps and maintain good water flow around them. Corals will benefit from the addition of Calcium, Strontium, Iodine, Magnesium and Trace Elements.

Barabattoia Corals are also known simply as the Moon Coral. Not often seen in the aquarium trade. The Barabattoia Corals are most commonly seen with shades of green with orange mouths but also seen with mixes of pink, orange and yellow. Barabattoia Corals vary greatly in size and formation.
